Welcome to AIRY Literature at Hola Folkhögskola! Last application day March 20.
Hola Folkhögskola is announcing a working-class literature residency in Prästmon, Sweden. Hola offers an inspiring rural and very beautiful environment to stay in.
The literature residency is open to authors active in the field of working-class literature. This can include different forms of expressions such as prose, poetry, graphic novels, essays and biography. We welcome applications from published authors.
The residency offers an active hosting, for example exchanges with the regional writing and arts community and visits to points of interest in the region.
We expect you to:
- Take part in workshops and/or talks and other events during the residency both at Hola and in the region, and we will discuss the possibilities with the selected author.
- Do at least one talk about your work and participate in at least one group event with AIRY artists and other authors in the region.
- Do a presentation about your work and participate in workshops together with the writing students.
There is no requirement for artistic production during the residency.
About Hola and the County of Västernorrland
Hola Folkhögskola, a school similar to a community college, has a long tradition of offering a creative and beautiful environment for people working in the fields of literature, music, sound and art. The school aims to develop into a center for literature and writing in the region and has a wide network in northern Sweden.
The school is situated on the shore of the Ångermanälven river, close to The High Coast World Heritage – an area of magnificent, unspoilt nature with many historical places and environments. The County of Västernorrland was early industrialized in the 1800´s and has a rich tradition of working-class writers.
Despite its rural location, it is fairly easy to get to Hola, since the college has a train station (Västeraspby) and an airport (Höga Kusten Airport) nearby.
We provide a private room (17 m²) with an en-suite bathroom. Hola Folkhögskola has a drug and alcohol-free policy.
