AIRY Literature

Welcome to AIRY Literature in Northern Sweden! Last day of application March 20, 2024

The County Council of Västernorrland and Hola Folkhögskola is announcing a working-class literature residency for published authors in Prästmon, Sweden in September 2024. Hola offers an inspiring rural and beautiful environment to stay in.

About Hola and The County of Västernorrland

Hola Folkhögskola, a school similar to a community college, has a long tradition of offering a creative and beautiful environment for people working in the fields of literature, music, sound and art. The school aims to develop into a center for literature and writing in the region and has a wide network in Northern Sweden.

The school is situated on the shore of the Ångermanälven river, close to The High Coast World Heritage – an area of magnificent, unspoilt nature with many historical places and environments. The County of Västernorrland was early industrialized in the 1800´s and has a rich tradition of working-class writers.

Despite its rural location, it is fairly easy to get to Hola since the college has a train station (Västeraspby) and an airport (Höga Kusten Airport) nearby.
